As many of you may already know, Stonyhurst is delighted to host an annual Holy Week Retreat. Each year, families and friends of the wider Stonyhurst community join our chaplaincy team and guest Jesuit and lay speakers at Stonyhurst for a period of reflection over Easter. The theme for this year’s retreat is Synodality, and Retreatants will be led in contemplation and personal reflection over the Easter weekend, beginning with the Maundy Thursday Liturgy in St Peter’s after welcome drinks in our Top Ref and culminating with Easter Mass on Sunday morning. We are delighted that our Keynote Speaker this year will be Fr Timothy Radcliffe, OP, leader of the retreat that opened the Synod in the Vatican earlier this year and former Master of the Dominicans. The retreat offers a wonderful opportunity for people to come together to explore their faith and the Jesuit foundation, which guides the teaching and learning at Stonyhurst. The Ignatian way: experience, reflection and action, is put into practice through an exciting weekend of activity that supports all retreatants, including a specially designed children’s programme catering for differing age groups. A copy of the main programme is given below. The children’s programme runs alongside this, to ensure that parents can access all that the retreat has to offer. For primary children, their retreat will be led by The Mark 10 Mission, and for secondary, by NET Ministries. There will also be special talks for young adults joining us. Given the opportunity to take advantage of the wonderful historic setting of Stonyhurst, retreatants are encouraged to find opportunity for quiet personal time in one of the many beautiful, dedicated spaces and an afternoon is set aside for the viewing of our extraordinary Collections with a talk from our Curator, Dr Jan Graffius, sharing Stonyhurst’s Jesuit provenance. Conscious of the increasing cost of living, we have ensured that the retreat remains an affordable option for families and individuals with discounts available on group bookings and for young adults joining us for the weekend. You can find the full details for retreat tickets and accommodation via the link given below. Whether you join us as a family or an individual, we look forward to welcoming you to the College to share in this unique spiritual experience of the Holy Week Retreat. If you wish to join us, then you can book your residential or non-residential tickets here.
