26th July 2024 and 12th August 2024 – OS Open Days at the College
Following the success of the open days in 2023 we will be hosting two more Open Days this summer for OS and their families.
These two dedicated days will provide an opportunity for you to join friends and other members of the Stonyhurst Family for staff led tours of the College and light lunch in the Top Ref. You will have the chance to reminisce about your time at school whilst visiting recently redisplayed and renovated rooms, including the Bayley Room, the Do Room, the Top Ref, and the Philosophers’ Study – and the Old Ref, which has been renovated and is now our Higher Line Common Room.
In the afternoon, you will have time to wander around the beautiful Stonyhurst grounds and Jesuit Gardens.
These Open Days are free, however, there are limited places per day and for catering purposes we require registration and dietary requirements. Booking information will be available in the New Year.
The Stonyhurst Museum and Historic Libraries will be open on these two dates, with displays including Shakespeare’s First Folio, Durer prints and books dating from 1471, including first editions of authors such as Charles Dickens, C.S Lewis and Gerard Manley Hopkins. Please note that there is a ticket price for access to these spaces, and prebooking is required. Booking information will be available in the New Year.

7th – 10th November 2024 – Ignation Retreat at Theodore House, Stonyhurst
OS and current or former parents are warmly invited to the sixth Stonyhurst Association retreat. This is a ‘taster’ retreat, exploring the life and works of St Ignatius of Loyola and learning how we can follow in his example.
Arrival late afternoon on Thursday, two full days Friday and Saturday and leaving on Sunday after Mass. The cost will be approximately £365.00 per person in a single room and £575 for two people sharing a twin. This includes supper on the day of arrival, two days at full board, breakfast on Sunday and two coffee/tea breaks per day A booking form will be available shortly.

11th February 2023 – Second Saturday Walk
We will assemble at 8.30am at the College Swimming Pool to depart at 8.45am and the walk will take around 90 minutes. At the end of the walk complimentary tea and coffee will be served in the Refectory. It would be very helpful if you could indicate that you plan to join us. Dogs are welcome on the walk, but not in the Refectory, however there is seating outside.
We would welcome anyone volunteering to lead subsequent walks to continue this opportunity to meet old friends and make new ones.
18th February 2023 – Association Annual Dinner at Stonyhurst
Our next Annual Dinner takes place at the College. Dr Julie Macfarlane OS 78 is the President and Lucy Hardwick OS 82 will be the guest speaker.
In order to make the Annual Dinner as accessible as possible to all OS, the Association is subsidising the cost of tickets. If you would like to help the work of the Association, helping us to maintain contact with and support our members, then we would be very grateful if you would do so by purchasing sponsored tickets at £125 each. This will help us to offer reduced-rate tickets to our young OS and encourage their attendance. However, there is no obligation to purchase these tickets and the standard price is £99.00. The reduced rate for OS aged 25 and under is £65. Ticket prices include reception drinks, three course dinner and coffee, table wine and a great band!

As many of you may already know, Stonyhurst is delighted to host an annual Holy Week Retreat. Each year, families and friends of the wider Stonyhurst community join the chaplaincy team and guest Jesuit and lay speakers at Stonyhurst for a period of reflection over Easter. 27th April 2023 – Manchester Convivium
Stonyhurst pupils will perform at a musical recital at the Bechstein Centre, Tib Street, Manchester, at 6.00pm, followed by drinks and a get-together at Tib Street Tavern. It would be lovely to get a good turnout from our OS in the Northwest, as we have not had a do in Manchester for some years!

3rd June 2023 – Dermot Gogarty Memorial Cup Match
This year the OS SMH v OS SJB rugby match will be played on Smithfield at Stonyhurst. As always we are looking for players! If you are interested in playing, please contact:

We are planning a walking pilgrimage from Melrose to Lindisfarne. It is suitable for those used to walking, and for senior school age children, as some parts can be strenuous. We will arrange bed and breakfast accommodation and luggage transfers, and the walk will be led by Richard (OS 88) and Emma Wotton. Our spiritual leader on the pilgrimage will br Fr Toby Lees OS 99. We are delighted to invite you to join the Stonyhurst Pilgrimage to Lourdes in August. This year will see a return to taking our Pilgrims who need assistance as we shall be organising a medically supported Pilgrimage once again after the enforced absence due to the pandemic. Once again, we shall be part of the Catholic Association Pilgrimage joining with pilgrims from different dioceses across England, together with the Glanfield Children’s group.
