The first Stonyhurst Association pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela  goes on Sunday!

34 pilgrims will gather in Sarrià, on Sunday 8th April ready to commence their walk from Sarrià  to Santiago along the traditional route – the Camino Francés.  The pilgrims will meet for supper  on Sunday evening and  Steve McCarthy OS65 who will be the pilgrimage spiritual director will lead night prayers. The walk will start on Monday morning in Sarria and end Friday evening in Santiago. The pilgrims will attend the Pilgrimage Mass in the Cathedral in Santiago on Saturday. The walk each day is between 13 and 18 miles, though only one day is 18 miles  – but for those who find this daunting there will be a backup vehicle and there are lots of places to stop off and rest.

We shall cover 115 km over 5 days walking. As we shall have walked more than 100km, pilgrims will be able to obtain a Compostela – a certificate to confirm that they have completed the Pilgrimage to Santiago.
