Bring a picnic, or purchase a burger or hot dog from our on-site barbecue, where non-alcoholic refreshments will also be available to purchase. It promises to be a wonderful day for OS, friends, and family alike.

Madrid Dinner Tuesday June 17th, 2025
With great pleasure, we invite you to join us for a special OS dinner in Madrid on June 17th a rare opportunity to bring together our Stonyhurst community in Spain and Gibraltar. Whether reconnecting with old friends or forging new professional connections, this evening promises to be a celebration of shared experiences and lasting bonds.
We are honoured to welcome our distinguished guest speaker, Marcos Thomas Murtra Millar OS 86, the newly appointed President and Chairman of Grupo Telefónica. Marc will share insights from his time at Stonyhurst and the invaluable lessons that have shaped his remarkable career.
Venue & Experience
The dinner will take place in an exclusive private room at Boral Torcuato, nestled atop the ABC Serrano (Centro Comercial on Calle Serrano, 61, Madrid). This exceptional venue offers one of Madrid’s finest rooftop terraces, where guests can enjoy breathtaking city views in an open-air setting. Culinary delights will be curated by the acclaimed Chef Sergio Fernández, known for his masterful fusion of traditional and contemporary cuisine.
Event Hosts
Guiding us through the evening will be Brian Douglas OS 83, a long-time Madrid resident, and the Anglo-Spanish Jimmy Burns Marañón OBE, OS 71 , former President of the Stonyhurst Association and a passionate advocate for alumni engagement as a Stonyhurst Association Committee member . Both Brian and Jimmy also serve as Trustees of the British Spanish Society, a charity established in 1916 to foster cultural exchange and mutual understanding between Britain and Spain, which is proud to have Stonyhurst as partners. They will introduce guests who are not already members to this influential NGO, which has long benefited from Stonyhurst’s support and of course share an update on exciting new developments at Stonyhurst.

The event cost is €70, with a subsidised rate of €45 for OS under 25. We have a private room with limited capacity so early booking is essential.

Monday 7th July OS Open Day
10.00am – 4.00pm
We are delighted to be hosting two Open Days this year for OS and their families.
These two dedicated days will provide an opportunity for you to join friends and other members of the Stonyhurst Family for staff led tours of the College and light lunch in the New Ref. You will have the chance to reminisce about your time at school whilst visiting recently redisplayed and renovated rooms, including the Bayley Room, the Do Room, the Top Ref, and the Philosophers’ Study – and the Old Ref, which has been renovated and is now The Unicorn Café.
In the afternoon, you will have time to stroll around the beautiful Stonyhurst grounds and Jesuit Gardens.
These Open Days are free, however, there are limited places per day and for catering purposes we require registration and dietary requirements. Therefore, we ask that you register below. Please note that tours of the College will only be available on these dates.
The Stonyhurst Museum and Historic Libraries will be open on these two dates, with displays including Shakespeare’s First Folio, Durer prints and books dating from 1471, including first editions of authors such as Charles Dickens, C.S Lewis and Gerard Manley Hopkins. Please note that there is a ticket price for access to these spaces, and pre-booking is required.
