The Stonyhurst Association is planning a pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela  from 8th – 15th April 2018.

We shall walk from Sarrià  to Santiago along the traditional route – the Camino Francés. Arriving on Sunday, we shall start the walk on Monday morning in Sarria and end the walk on Friday evening in Santiago. We will then attend the Pilgrimage Mass in the Cathedral in Santiago on Saturday and have a supper together on Saturday evening. Accommodation  will be booked in advance, and baggage transfers will be included to reassure those who are not sure about carrying backpacks! The walk each day is between 13 and 18 miles, though only one day is 18 miles  – but for those who find this daunting there will be a backup vehicle and there are taxis available to take you onwards to the next town if necessary.

We shall cover 115 km over 5 days walking. As we shall have walked more than 100km, Pilgrims will be able to obtain a Compostela – a certificate to confirm that they have completed the Pilgrimage to Santiago.

The cost will be  €504 for people opting for  the dormitory/hostel basis, or €600 for a twin shared room. This includes breakfast, a packed lunch and an evening meal each day and baggage transfers.  This does not include the cost of flights. The company with whom we are booking will be able to advise on appropriate flights and will be able to arrange transfer from the airport to our starting point on Sunday afternoon. There is a flight to Santiago on Sunday 8th April and a return flight on the 15th, but only from Stansted and for those in the North of England we are considering a coach from Stonyhurst to Stansted should there be enough interest.
